2019 in review

2019 has been a great year. I got married, we took the most astonishing trip to the Canadian Rockies, for our honeymoon. Work was going well and I have improved my time management skills for side projects such as podcasting and working on mobile apps. But year in review is more about consumable media that I want to rank and document for myself.

Music

A few years ago, when my wife moved in with me she brought an old record player. Since then we started visiting record stores seeking albums that are worth becoming one of the many that should age well. For the moment, I am super happy that we added Lost In Translation (Music From The Motion Picture Soundtrack) to our beloved collection.

It feels like in 2019 I've purified my primary choices in music. That well reflects in my rankings, but more importantly, I have enjoyed my favorite albums like I never did it before.

Nilüfer Yanya - Miss Universe
Faye Webster - Atlanta Millionaires Club
Vampire Weekend - Father of the Bride
Mac Demarco - Here Comes the Cowboy
Brittany Howard - Jaime
Devendra Banhart - Ma

I listen to jazz occasionally. One notable album that was discovered in 2019 but released already in 2018: Makaya McCraven - Universal Beings. This album specifically has condensed all the bits that I like about jazz. It is modern, it has a pulse and it creates a great atmosphere.

Movies

There were some great movies last year but I have listed only the ones that I want to remember from 2019. I have spent much less time watching movies. More and more, we only watch the ones that were waiting for instead of seeing movies as a form of entertainment.

Marriage Story
The Souvenir
